Just outside of Lexington, Kentucky sits one of the most prestigeous high schools in Kentucky. Not only is it a high school well noted for it's education and sports teams, but it also a famous riding academy where some of the top trainers, riders, owners and equine veterinarians in the country have gone to school. Being a hub for the equestrian community, despite being a haven for students, teachers and riding instructors, veterinarians, vet techs, and trainers are hired to work and care for the other inhabitants of Elmendorf. There are also citizens living in Lexington, only a short drive away from the school, and who are known to stop in every now and then.
Of course Elmendorf isnt your innocent, tight knit and snobish school like most think. Inside the campus grounds, it has all the problems of any school. It's up to you where you fall and fit in. The only question is...
Are you ready to ride?
----
Along with being a high school/riding school/city rp, Elmendorf also has an adoptable element to it involving the horses you use there. It's optional and a bit like neopets as well as horse sims, though extremely low tech. Basically you can own, breed, buy sell and show(and train horses to be better at showing) your horses. However if you'd just like to rp, that's fine.
The month is June and the weather is sunny and warm.

This is where relationships between characters can be developed or listed in a fun, well organized fashion. Are you friends, enemies, or about to run off and elope?
This is a very informal, out of character way of finding plots for your character. You can come here to brain storm, to post up character wanted ads, and to find more in depth plots for your characters.
Own a computer? Then you may as well have instant messaging. It's a nice way to talk to friends, meet friends and maybe spread some gossip and nasty rumors?
Whether you have a sidekick or the economy priced phone you bought at Walmart, your friends call you, dont they? Have phone calls and leave your friends messages.
If you want to post pictures of yourself so people can tell you how pretty you are or you just want people to leave to messages to make you laugh, apply for a myspace.
Some of the kids here hate them, while some live in them. From math and biology to art class and equestrian medicine, if it's a class that involves desks, pencils and pens, they're all inside the building. Though they empty out for the night at 5:00.
Yeah, it's an equestrian academy but you've still got to get your high school credits, and that includes gym. The gym is open during all campus hours though generally you have to bring your own equipment unless there is a special occasion or someone forgot to lock up the equipment.
The main Elmendorf Academy building is massive, so understandably there are lots of hallways to get lost in. Kind of a spooky place to wander in the dark, the hallways are generally a busy place as they are lined with lockers.
Everyone's crap stinks the same and especially here. It's understandable why the janitors are scared to clean these bathrooms, but hey, it's high school, what more can you expect? Words of the wise, the girls bathrooms --- MUCH more tolerable if you can stand the gossip.
Even though there is an equestrian sport focus at Elmendorf, there are foot ball fields, baseball fields and soccor fields and Elmendorf usually comes out with some pretty good teams every season.
There are a total of three barns, one is strictly for mares in foals, mares with foals and weanlings. The two others ate devoted completely to housing the horses belonging to the students, trainers and instructors, as well as the school horses. The barns are all indoor box stalls and the barn is often joked about being better accomodations than the school itself.
There are several arenas and pastures scattered about Elmendorf. Unless given permission, students may only turn out their horses for an hour a day. There are cross country courses, show jumping arenas, trail riding courses and general riding arenas. The only arena open at all times is one dirt arena next to the barn, others are only opened with permission of a trainer or instructor.
Though students are not permitted to go out on trails without first signing a sheet in the main barn's office, Elmendorf has several trails through the undeveloped forest that is behind it's three barns. There isnt much more than trees and squirrels, but there are a few clearings and one small stream.
While it's not required that a student live at Elmendorf, it is a private school so dorms are provided to those who need them. The dorms are quite nice as far as school dormitories go, if not a bit cramped. Two to a dorm, and no, they are not Co-Ed.
If your character lives off campus or isnt a student, so long as they live in reachable distance then they can have a board with their house or apartment.
The Modern Performance Horse is a store that is nation reknowned for it's dedication to providing the best quality tack for the best prices. This store is the largest one of the chain of stores and often times will have horse sales.
Walking through Lexington is hardly ever dull, since there is a perserved feeling of that old "Bluegrass State" motif, and also lots of historic land marks which you can simply walk by. One thing for sure is that these streets are never empty.
What horse lover doesnt know about the famous Kentucky Horse Park? Home to several retired racing legends, the horse park is a fun place to go even if you do go to an equestrian academy. Lots of Elmendorf's vets and trainers work here as well.
Everyone's got to eat, and there are places to get some food for everyone, regardless of economic status. You have dairy queens and mcdonalds to lots of much fancier restaurants.
From the seedy bars with local bands playing every night to the expensive, hard to get into night clubs, Lexington isnt all about bluegrass and innocence and these places prove it.
Holister, Hot Topic, Build-A-Bear and a food court(Panda express!). This is a popular place in general, and every weekend it is almost always filled with university and Elmendorf students. Being three stories high, there's plenty of room for everyone to have fun and spend money.
Lexington has it's very own public skate park, and Woodland is quite a place indeed. While in the day light hours kids and adults can be found skating the ramps and bowls, at night Woodlands is infamous for drug dealing and squaters. So just be sure you know what time of day you play to go skating.
Materson Station Park is the biggest park in Lexington, spanning 659 acres. It isnt rare that people bring thier horses and dogs here. There are horse drawn carriages you can hire to pull you around the park as well as several playgrounds and pathways.
One of the main attractions in Lexington, Rupp Arena is home to several of your shopping needs, plays host to basketball games and other sporting events, as well as several big concerts. Even when there isnt an event going on, there's always things to do at the Rupp Arena.
